To Amplify or Not to Amplify your Sprint Mobile Broadband Card?

Our customers often ask us how to improve their signal. The biggest determination of internet speed is based on location. First, what kind of network are you near? Rev A, which is the fastest will give you broadband speeds. If in a more rural area outside of Rev A, your top speed could be 144Kbps. We have a great Sprint Coverage map on our site to check your coverage. So, if you are in a less than perfect area, what can you do? One is to get an Antenna. These are passive and have no power behind them, but do offer a much better antenna than is build into the card itself. However, if you really want to bump your signal from 1 bar to 3, 4 or even 5 bars an Amplifier is the way to go. These add 3 watts of power to your card, and can pull a signal from a much farther distance than an Antenna alone. For specific questions, give our office a call to discuss your situation.

The hot new CradlePoint MBR1000 is here!

We are very excited about this new router for several reasons. One, it is the first mobile router with the new N WiFi standard. This provides better quality and signal distance than the older B & G standards. Of course, it is also B & G for those with older hardware. Secondly, this is the first router to have an Express Card Slot. Now users of the popular express card format will have a way to share their connection. This router also supports the USB standard modems as well...but no PCMCIA slot, which are becoming less and less popular anyway, as most new laptops are converting to the Express standard.

Express Card or USB? With our FREE USB Adapter, you get the best of both!

Customers ask us every day, "I have an Express Card Slot, should I get an Express Card or USB?"

We used to tell customers... "It depends" based on each customers needs. Express Cards are nice for laptop use, since most of the card is inside the laptop, and you can just leave it inserted permanently if you want. However, Express Cards are not very versatile, since they don't work in most routers, and don't work in desktops. USB Cards work in everything, but tend to stick out too far in a laptop for some people.

We have a better solution...

For all of our Novatel EX720 Express Card customers, we now offer a FREE USB adapter. Now, you can get the best of both worlds...the laptop friendly Express Card with the versatility of a USB all-in-one. So, not only do we save you $50 off Sprint's price on the EX720, we also give you a USB adapter for Free.
