Verizon Mobile Broadband 5GB Data Plan

Everyone wants to know… How much is 5GB of Data? This Video explains what you get for 5 GB.

The reality is that 5GB is way more than most people will ever use in a month. By clicking on Mobile Internet Plans from our menu, you’ll be able to see how we break down what 5GB is, and how much you can do of a number of different activities on the web.

The main thing you want to avoid is downloading or streaming 2 hour movies, as each of these can be 1GB apiece. You can surf the Internet all day without going over.

The overage charges are 5 cents per mb if you go over the 5GB, so if you go over 1GB it would be an additional $50 bringing your total to $110. If you consistently need more than 5GB, you would be better off getting 2 mobile broadband cards so you will have 10GB of data usage for only $120 month.

Of course, for those who want to monitor their usage, the most accurate way is to create an account on www.verizonwireless.com and simply log on to check your usage for the month.

Find your device, and the proper operating system, and then download that version to your computer.

Arc Freedom Aircard Signal Booster Antenna Review

Our most popular Antenna is our Indoor Antenna from Arc. Why is it the most popular? Because it works, and because it is so darn versatile.

You can easily set it on a desk using the built-in foot stand. You can stow it in a bag, and take it with you anywhere. You can also use the included suction cups to attach it to a window in an RV, Car or Office/Home.

You can even stick it to the back of the iBox2Go and it’s ready to use. I like it because it works in ALL these situations and is never permanently installed anywhere.

Now you’ll have better reception everywhere you go. Very simple, very easy!

For more information about boosting the signal strength of your aircard, visit More Mobile Internet.

iBox2Go Internet in a Box Review

One of our Exclusive products at More Mobile Internet is the iBox2go! This product combines 3 best in class products to produce a totally portable wireless network in an easy to carry box.

So what is inside the iBox2go? First off, we have the Verizon USB760 Broadband Internet Card. This aircard allows you to connect at average speeds from about 500kbps to 1500kbps or even faster, all on the nation’s largest 3G network.

The second piece is the CradlePoint MBR1000. This is the most popular mobile router on the market for good reason. It allows you to share your Verizon USB modem with multiple computers, printers, or any wifi enabled device. The wireless range is about 200+ feet, and you also have 4 Ethernet ports if you want to hard wire a computer as well.

Next, comes this interesting looking antenna. This attaches to the USB760 to give it a better signal. You can set it on a desk, or attach it to a window.

Now, you have the best network, with an antenna to ensure the best signal, and a great router that lets you share your signal as you please. You can easily use this in a Home one day, your Office the next, and take it to a Trade show or Vacation the next.

If you don’t need the router, simply plug the USB760 directly into your computer and now you are even more portable. The versatility is amazing! With the iBox2Go, you will have Internet access anywhere, anytime for any purpose.

3G Mobile Broadband Coverage Video

There are several tools to help check what kind of signal any location is going to get . To start, go to coverage maps on our site to determine if there is 3G mobile internet coverage at that specific address.

The maps will tell you if there is 3G Mobile Broadband Internet service in that area, but not any specific info on how strong that signal is. For this, a common tool we can use is your cell phone. You need to have the same carrier for this info to do you any good. If you want to check for Verizon Internet coverage, you would need a Verizon cell phone.

For the next step, just look at your signal on the phone to see the bars. However, this is sometimes not detailed enough info. Most phones will have a way to find the dBm level or RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) On a Blackberry for example, go to Options, then Status.

The Signal is the first item, and it will give you a numerical reading that is more accurate that just signal bars. The lower the number the better. 60’s and 70’s are great, 80’s are ok, the 90s are getting poor and anything over 100 is usually going to have fairly poor, bad service, or no service without the help of an Antenna or Amplifier.

For solutions with poor coverage areas, call 866-541-0400 or visit More Mobile Internet.

How to Improve Aircard Signal Using MBR1000

How to Improve Aircard Signal Using an MBR1000 Mobile Broadband Router. Is it possible for a CradlePoint MBR1000 to improve the signal on your Verizon (or AT&T or Sprint) aircard without any Antennas or Amplifiers?

Yes, it is. We have a few tricks that can help you get the best signal possible. First of all, you need to know how to see the signal. On the MBR1000, simply press down the Signal button for about 5 seconds until the green light comes on. Now you can see how many bars of signal you are getting.

For an even more accurate way to see the signal strength, log into the Cradlepoint Administration page and select “Modem”. This will give you the dBm or RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) in a number between about 60 to 110+. Lower is better! A signal of 75 is better than 95.

Now that you know how to determine the best signal area in your particular home/office, you can place the CradlePoint in the best area in the building. For example, if you get a RSSI of 72 dBm in the upstairs bedroom, but only a 86 dBm in the office on the first floor, you can still put the router and USB card in the better upstairs location and then let the MBR1000 send the wifi signal down to the office where the computers are located.

So yes, a Cradlepoint router CAN help get you a better signal by virtue of letting you put it in a more advantageous place, especially with the great range of the MBR1000.

For even more How-to Videos, visit More Mobile Internet.

How to Find Password for Cradlepoint MBR1000 Mobile Router

How to find the default password for the Cradlepoint MBR1000 mobile router. One of the most frequently asked questions when someone is setting up a new Cradlepoint MBR1000 router is, “What is the Password?”

First of all, let's get you to that point by typing 192.168.0.1 into your browser window after you have found your CradlePoint’s wireless signal on your computer.

Once you type that in and press enter, you will be prompted for the Admin Password. It is listed on the outside of your box, or even better, it is located on the bottom of your router. Just turn the MBR1000 over and find the MAC address. Then take the last 6 digits of the MAC address and type them into the password field in all lower case.

That is it! Now you can get into the Cradlepoint MBR1000 Administration pages to set up security or any other tasks or changes to customize your router settings.

For more How-to Videos, visit More Mobile Internet.

Cradlepoint MBR1000 Mobile Broadband Router with Failover. Do you need your Internet to be up and running 24/7? If you require always-on Internet service, then you need failover. Failover lets you use 2 or more Internet sources, one primary source, and one or more as backups in case the main Internet service goes down.

If your primary Internet source is Cable or DSL, then you can set the router to use an aircard like the Verizon USB760 as a secondary Internet source. If the main Internet service stops working, the MBR1000 will failover to the aircard with no interruption in service. If your primary Internet source is a Verizon aicard, you can use another Verizon aircard as your backup or you can even use another carrier like AT&T giving you even more protection.

Once the Internet service is restored, the router will failback to the primary Internet source. This is done automatically based on your settings. The Cradlepoint router will detect the Internet service failure, failover to the backup device and when service is restored, failback to the primary Internet service.

With failover/failback your Internet service would always be up and running. If your business requires Internet service 24/7 then failover is a necessity and the MBR1000 Mobile Broadband Router is the perfect solution.

Visit More Mobile Internet for more information about the Cradlepoint MBR1000 router.

Verizon MiFi 2200

The Verizon MiFi 2200 is about the size of 5 stacked credit cards and weighs just over 2 ounces, so it’s very portable. With the MiFi 2200, you can use the Internet in a car, RV, boat, train, bus, at the beach or park… anytime, anywhere.

The MiFi 2200 is the first mobile broadband device to combine both a modem and a mobile router. The WiFi range is about 30 feet and up to 5 users or WiFi enabled devices like the Ipod Touch and game systems can be connected to the MiFi at the same time.

The battery-powered mobile broadband device is totally wireless. The battery will last about 40 hours in standby mode or up to 5 hours while using. There is also a USB power cable that will recharge the battery and also allow the unit to run longer than 5 hours.

Even though the MiFi 2200 is a very tiny device, it does not sacrifice security. Keep your connection safe with password protection, CDMA authentication and identification, dynamic Mobile IP (MIP) key update, Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) firewall, VPN pass-through, and more.

With an optional microSD card, up to 16GB of data including music, video, games and other programs can be stored on the MiFi and accessed through the web interface. It will also run applications that incorporate the MiFi’s GPS capability, provide auto-VPN access, allow automatic email synch, and much more.

If you want the portability of the MiFi, but occasionally need to connect more devices or need a greater WiFi range, then the MiFi 2200 in combination with a Cradlepoint router will offer the best of both worlds. Put the MiFi in your pocket and go. Then when you get back to the office or home, attach it to the Cradlepoint router via the USB cable. There is also an optional car adapter for the Cradlepoint router, so you can take the router with you, too.

If you’re looking for a mobile broadband device that’s extremely portable, shares the connection and has built-in security, then the Verizon MiFi 2200 from Verizon Wireless is a great choice.

Free CradlePoint CTR350 with Verizon USB 2 yr Agreement!

More Mobile Internet is excited to announce special pricing on the CradlePoint CTR350 Travel Router. How does FREE after Rebate sound?
That is right. The CTR350 and Verizon USB760 are just $75 up front, with $75 in rebates. This offer is good through the end of September, so act now to get this great deal.
Don't want a new Verizon USB Card? No problem, you can still pick up the CTR350 for just $99.99 to turn your USB card from Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, Cricket, or Alltel into your own Wifi Hot-Spot.
But what about the MiFi? While the MiFi 2200 is great, it does have a few limitations. You can't use an Antenna with it like you can with a USB card and CTR350. The MiFi also has NO Ethernet ports. The CTR350 allows you to connect to any device that requires a wired connection as well. Additionally the WiFi range on the CTR350 is almost double that of the MiFi.
Still not sure which one is best for you? No problem, just call More Mobile Internet.com at 866-541-0400 for expert advice!

1 year Agreement Specials from Verizon

Hate 2 year agreements?

We have a solution for you! The Novatel USB760 is just $49.99 after rebate with a 1 year agreement! That is correct. For the same price that most places sell the USB760 with a 2 year deal, we have only a 1 year commitment!

In fact to get any of our Verizon Broadband modem cards with a 1 year agreement, just add $100 to the upfront cost of any of our super low priced 2 year deals. Since most of our prices are almost $100 less than many Verizon retailers...that means you get a 1 year deal for the "normal" price of a 2 year deal!
What if you need a CradlePoint router along with a Verizon Broadband card? No problem, the same rules apply: If you want a 1 year contract instead of a 2 year deal, just add $100 to the combo package price!
For more Mobile Internet Plans from Verizon, including International plans, and info on 5GB plans please visit our site, or give us a call at 866-541-0400.

5GB not enough Mobile Internet Access? How about our 10GB Plan?

In reality, 5GB is more than enough for most people. You can surf the Internet, all day, every day and still not hit the 5GB limit that ALL the carriers now have. Unless you are downloading full length movies, trying to use VOIP a lot (it uses about a MB a minute) or some other extremely data heavy activity, you have nothing to worry about.

But there are the rare few who want, who need, more than 5GB a month. What to do? Well, you could pay the $50 per GB overage charges....0r you could do something even smarter.

With a CradlePoint CTR500 or MBR1000 mobile wireless broadband router and TWO mobile Internet cards, you can give yourself 10GB a month mobile Internet access for $120 a month (rather than $300+ by paying overage charges with one mobile internet card). Both cards plug into one router and the router shares the usage of the 2 cards over one network! Additionally, if you have multiple users, this will help the speed of the connection as well.

If you are really ambitious, you can even share 3 mobile internet cards on the MBR1000!

MiFi or a Mobile Internet Card and Router? 3 options for any usage.

With the introduction of the new Verizon MiFi 2200 from Novatel, lots of people are asking what makes the most sense, MiFi or a Mobile Internet Card and Router Combo? There are a lot of options out there, but we have boiled it down to the 3 best solutions that will cover 95% of people out there. No need to make it any more complicated than this!

The 3 Best Choices: The Novatel MiFi-no mobile wireless broadband card needed, CradlePoint CTR500 & Mobile Internet Card or CradlePoint MBR1000 & Mobile Internet Card.

First off, lets simplify the available Routers:

MiFi - Limit of 5 users. 30 foot WiFi b & g range. 2-4 hour battery.
  • Perfect for: Ultimate in portability and simplicity, and cost.
CTR500 - 16 users. 50+ foot WiFi b & g range. Packaged with Wall & Car Charger. Works with most USB and ExpressCard mobile internet cards. Has external antenna port, signal strength display, 1 Ethernet Port.
  • Perfect for: Still very portable, but with more power and options, can also use the card separately in one computer as needed. This is also the way to go if you already own a USB or Expresscard mobile Internet card, and don't want to pay full retail for a MiFi. Get this if you also want to be able to add an Antenna to increase the signal to your system.

MBR1000 - 32 users. 200+ foot WiFi b, g, & "N". 4 Ethernet ports, both Express and USB support.

  • Perfect for: Home or Small Business uses. Much larger WiFi range. Works as fail over backup with regular Cable/DSL also.

But what about the PHS300? The MiFi does everything the PHS300 will although it has slightly less range...but the PHS300 battery only lasts an hour in real life... so it is pretty useless if you really need to go totally wireless. Plus the MiFi is a much smaller and slicker devise.

What about the CTR350? Go for the CTR500 instead. It offers a lot more bang for the buck. You get a Car Charger worth $25, which will definitely save the day at some point. Plus it has a signal strength meter on the display. This comes in very handy and will increase your speeds as you can place the router in a better location based on signal strength. Additionally, if you travel internationally, the CTR500 also comes with all the power adapters to use world-wide.

Lost your Broadband Card? Want to Upgrade?

We have a great selection of gently Used Mobile Broadband cards from Verizon, Sprint, and Alltel. Customers call us frequently that have lost their card and don't want to pay the $200 to $350 for a new card. This is the perfect solution!

We have Cards priced from $35 to $150 that require NO Contract extension, and only require a simple Serial Number change on your account. Don't waste $200 or $300 on a replacement card when you can get one of these for much less, that will work just as well.

Of course, people also wonder why a lot of our cards are FREE with a 2 year agreement...but then you have to pay $200 for one without a contract?? It's very simple really, the carriers are basically giving you something that does cost $200 for Free in exchange for a 2 yr agreement to pay $60 a month. If you are not going to commit to that, then they have to charge you the real price of the device.

Cradlepoint Releases Firmware 2.3 for CTR350 + PHS300

CradlePoint has released Firmware Version 2.3.0 for the CTR350 Cellular Travel Router and the PHS300 Personal Hotspot.

Device compatibilty added for:
  • Huawei EC228/Alltel
  • Novatel U760/Sprint and Verizon (GPS – Sprint only)
  • Pantech UM100/Cricket
  • Pantech UM175/Verizon and Alltel
  • Sierra Wireless Compass 598U/Sprint (GPS)
  • Sierra Wireless AT&T USBConnect Mercury/AT&T
  • Huawei E870/AT&T
  • RIM BlackBerry Curve 8330/Sprint and Verizon
  • RIM BlackBerry 9530 Storm/Verizon

Notes:

  • Upgrading to this firmware release will cause a factory reset from previous firmware. Please be sure to save your configuration settings (Tools -> Admin menu) before loading this firmware and then restore your configuration afterwards. The 2.2 firmware version had a feature to automatically save and restore settings, but in post-release testing a defect was found in the implementation so it has been disabled in this release.

New features added in this release:

  • OpenDNS support on Sprint network under Advanced -> Web Filter. Some carrier's DNS servers intercept requests to other DNS services. This change provides a workaround to allow the use of the router's Advanced -> Web Filter -> OpenDNS content filtering functionality or your personal OpenDNS account settings.
  • Bounce page billboard. We added the ability to customize the "authorize_client.html" page, which is the page someone first sees when trying to access the Internet using the router. The default code used for our page is available as an example. CradlePoint Support will not provide help writing HTML, if you aren't comfortable with HTML this isn't the feature for you. Under Tools -> User Login -> Customize Billboard are two buttons and a checkbox.

Routers purchased from More Mobile Internet are shipped with the most current firmware already installed.

Rural Internet? Is it really that hard to get Internet?

Lately I have read plenty of articles of small town rural areas that have residents and local officials complaining that they are left behind in the digital age. The great digital divide. There is of course Obama's Broadband Roadmap article as well which never mentions some very viable options that are already available. Granted, there certainly are areas that have limited options as compared to a metro area. However when it comes to rural Internet, most people would be surprised to learn that most areas already have High Speed Mobile Broadband from Sprint or Verizon. No, most don't need Cable or DSL to get Broadband! I invite any rural readers to check your actual street coverage especially on Verizon who has lots of rural broadband coverage. There are even amplifiers and antennas that allow you to get service outside the actual coverage areas!

Another misconception is that Mobile Broadband is only for laptops. Not true! Small offices and homes with 2 to 5 computers can easily share one Sprint or Verizon aircard, along with a Mobile Router, to create a wireless network just like with Cable or DSL.

Is Mobile Broadband a little more expensive that some other options? Yes, at $59.99 a month it is a bit more...but don't forget it also works anywhere in the USA compared to just one location with Cable or DSL, so you are getting more actual service as well. Hopefully people will start to realize that Mobile Broadband is a real option. It has been my only connection to the web for over 3 years!
